Environment - Cooling Water

The river water that circulates around the steam turbine condenser is an essential part of electricity production. Deeside draws its water from the nearby River Dee Estuary and this requires treating with a small amount of sodium hypochlorite and sulphuric acid.

While some of the water is evaporated in the cooling towers, the remainder is returned to the River Dee a few degrees warmer.
