Environment Data for 2015

Last year Deeside generated approximately 327 GWh.

In order to generate this electricity Deeside burnt 690 GWh of natural gas.

This gas is delivered at a pressure of 26 bar.

Emissions to air:

CO – 255 tonnes, CO2 – 141,965 tonnes

NOx – 133 tonnes, SO2 – 2 tonnes


We abstracted 370,151 m3 of water from the River Dee.

This is to condense the steam from the steam turbine. Some of this water evaporates in the towers and we returned 141,435 m3, a few degrees warmer but within defined limits.

We used 57,873 m3 of town mains water last year for generating steam to produce electricity from the steam turbine.

Total waste produced: 28 tonnes

Waste recycled: 18 tonnes

Data for 2014

Last year Deeside generated approximately 692 GWh.

In order to generate this electricity Deeside burnt 1418 GWh of natural gas.

This gas is delivered at a pressure of 26 bar.


Emissions to air:

CO – 427 tonnes, CO2 – 291,518 tonnes

NOx – 275 tonnes, SO2 – 3 tonnes


We abstracted 795,605 m3 of water from the River Dee.

This is to condense the steam from the steam turbine. Some of this water evaporates in the towers and we returned 283,378 m3, a few degrees warmer but within defined limits.

We used 88,123 m3 of town mains water last year for generating steam to produce electricity from the steam turbine.

Total waste produced: 141 tonnes (Mainly as a result of the old FO Tanks demolition).

Waste recycled: 107 tonnes

Enough to meet the needs of over half a million people.

In order to generate this electricity Deeside burnt
1795 GWh of natural gas

This gas is delivered at a pressure of 26 bar.

Emissions to air:
CO – 568 tonnes, CO2 –367721 tonnes
NOx – 381 tonnes, SO2 – 4 tonnes

We abstracted 1023849 m3 of water from the River Dee.

This is to condense the steam from the steam turbine.
Some of this water evaporates in the towers

And we returned 411095 m3, a few degrees warmer but within defined limits.

We used 91641 m3 of town mains water last year for generating steam to produce
electricity from the steam turbine

Total waste produced: 53 tonnes
Waste recycled: 28 tonnes

Enough to meet the needs of about half a million people.

In order to generate this electricity Deeside burnt 1537 GWh of natural gas
This gas is delivered at a pressure of 26 bar.

CO – 803 tonnes, CO2 – 314778 tonnes
NOx – 349 tonnes, SO2 – 4 tonnes

We abstracted 1074928 m3 of water from the River Dee.
This is to condense the steam from the steam turbine.
Some of this water evaporates in the towers.
We returned 314098 m3, a few degrees warmer but within defined limits.

We used 81966 m3 of town mains water last year for
generating steam to produce electricity from the steam turbine.

Total waste produced: 65 tonnes
Waste recycled: 37 tonnes

We abstracted 2,438,496 m3 of water from the River Dee.

This is to condense the steam from the steam turbine. Some of this water evaporates in the towers.

We returned almost 1,122,788 m3 a few degrees warmer but within defined limits.

We used 66,550 m3 of town mains water last year for generating steam to produce electricity from the steam turbine.

Total waste produced: 82 tonnes
Waste recycled: 49 tonnes

We used 133,982 m3 of town mains water last year for generating steam to produce electricity from the steam turbine.

Waste recycled: 39 tonnes
