Safety Performance 2016

2016 was another good year for Deeside in the management of health and safety issues, with no Lost Time Accidents being recorded. A 7 week plant outage took place in the summer and an excellent team performance by all staff and contractors on site meant there were no major incidents and only one minor first aid incident (unrelated to the outage) recorded.

Reporting of near misses was very good and allowed continuous improvement in the site health and safety management systems.

An audit on the effectiveness of the legionella controls to our cooling towers was carried out by the HSE was carried out in June- no significant corrective actions were required.

Deeside was chosen to be audited by corporate under the 2016 Engie internal control programme. This form of audit allocates a compliance rating score. Deeside was rated in the top 3 sites audited globally in the last 2 years.

Deeside has continued to maintain its exemplary safety record, with 2016 being the fifth full year in which no Lost Time Accidents have occurred.

The Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work (CEMFAW) Regulations 2016 came into force on 1 July 2016. Deeside has fully implemented its requirements although most of these were already in place.
